With the unique Tabernas Desert as its backdrop, in the midst of sprawling Olive groves and hugged by undulating pine ridged peaks, “El Reflejo” is wonderfully situated within an eagles swoop of the rural Spanish Town of Tabernas.
This little known yet globally famous area rests beneath a climate that is beyond compare, with more than enough sunshine for the most hardcore of Sun Worshipers and just enough rainfall to keep the internationally acclaimed “Oro Verde” flowing.
Boasting a multitude of “Pueblos Blancos” nestling amidst this beautifully arid landscape, and a plethora of homely bars and restaurants offering some amazing culinary delights, this little explored region is close enough to everything and yet far enough to leave it all behind.
And you still want to know…. Why am I here?
After classical training as a chef in Switzerland and some time as a chef on a private jet, the long hours, stress and isolation from people lead me into a new career in media recruitment in London, which lasted for 25 years.
Once again, this lifestyle took its toll on me and I needed a lifestyle change before I got burnt out. I moved from the oppressive city life into a starkly contrasting lifestyle of simplicity in the “Garden of England”.
Here, I established, “The Linen Shed”, which became a highly acclaimed Bed and Breakfast, and was soon listed as one of the top B&B’s in England. But the truth be told, I have always craved to live in warmer climes and after 10 years at “The Linen Shed”, I relocated to this astonishingly beautiful Spanish region to begin my new adventure.
The classic whitewashed architecture of our 2 “Fincas” was inspired by the traditional Spanish farmhouse and both have been tastefully styled with vintage furniture, faded grandeur and a collection of antiques which have been amassed over the years.
Having 2 wrap around terraces which offer a shaded dining area and outdoor lounge, the shaded “false pepper tree” garden and of course the swimming pool which is exclusively decorated with artisanal grass mirrors, potted cacti, sun loungers and of course, a fridge, you are now very much “spoilt for choice” in where you choose to sit and watch the glow of the fading evening sun turn the not so distant mountains a glorious shade of pink. It is a truly wonderous sight.
“El Reflejo” which will be at the heart of your stress-less Andalucian retreat, was created with an unparalleled passion and attention to detail, which was the hallmark of “The Linen Shed”.
With its unique blend of shabby chic and modern classical design, it gives you a cool but warm ambiance, that entices you to let go of any pre-conceived ideas of holidaying in Spain.
Set in its own small walled olive grove, with its splashes of colour in the form of roses and bougainvillea, emphasised with hints of cacti and palms, this oasis of tranquillity brings a flash of vibrance at the edge of this magnificently rugged landscape.
There is more to "El Reflejo" than meets the eye!
